Eagerness is an AI, and its voices are AI characters, not people. If you talk about suicide or self-harm, Eagerness answers with care and tells you how to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. It isn't a crisis service, and it's only for adults.

If you're struggling right now

Please reach out to a person now. In the US, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, any time, or chat at 988lifeline.org. Outside the US, find a local helpline at findahelpline.com. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911 or your local emergency number.

1. You're talking to an AI

The voices in Eagerness, Ava, Leo, Mia and Max, are characters made by AI software. They aren't real people and have no real feelings, even when they sound like it. The app labels them as AI at all times, and reminds you that you're talking to an AI when a conversation starts and every three hours while you keep talking.

2. What Eagerness does when someone may be in crisis

This is our protocol for conversations about suicide and self-harm:

3. What it can't do

Eagerness can miss things or misread them, and the AI won't always say the right thing. It can't call anyone for you. Because everything stays on your Mac, we never see your conversations and can't step in. Eagerness isn't therapy, medical care or an emergency service, and it isn't a substitute for people who can help.

4. Privacy

These checks happen entirely on your Mac. Nothing about them is sent to us, and we don't learn when they happen. Our Privacy Policy explains what we do and don't receive.

5. Adults only

Eagerness is for people 18 and older and isn't suitable for minors. Setup asks you to confirm your age. If you know of a minor using Eagerness, please tell us.

6. Questions and concerns

To ask about this protocol or report a safety concern, email support@eagerness.ai. Our Terms of Use cover how Eagerness may be used.
