Privacy Policy
Last updated October 26, 2026
The short version: the AI in Eagerness runs entirely on your Mac. Eagerness doesn't send your voice, your conversations or what it remembers about you to us or anyone else, and we never receive them. We do receive some personal data: your purchase details from Stripe when you buy, whatever you send us by email, and basic technical details, such as your IP address, when your browser or the Eagerness download helper connects to our servers. We don't sell personal data, use it for advertising or use it to train AI.
This policy explains what personal data Worth A Try LLC ("we", "us"), the maker of Eagerness, collects, how we use it, and your choices and rights. It covers the Eagerness app for Mac, its download helper, our website and our online store. Sections 11 and 12 add details for people in the EEA, the UK, Switzerland and US states with privacy laws. Eagerness has no user accounts.
1. What stays on your Mac
The following information is created and kept on your Mac. Eagerness doesn't send it to us or anyone else, and we never receive it.
- Your voice. When you allow microphone access in macOS, Eagerness listens to you and turns what you say into text on your Mac, in memory. The audio isn't saved and is never sent anywhere. You can turn microphone access off anytime in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Microphone.
- Your conversations and memory. To remember you from one conversation to the next, Eagerness stores your recent conversation and notes about things you've told it. They're encrypted (AES-GCM) with a key kept on your Mac, normally in its Keychain.
- Your settings, trial and license. The name you want Eagerness to call you, the gender you choose during setup, the voice you pick, any "About you" text, your other preferences, how much of the free trial you've used and your license key are stored on your Mac, in its Keychain and in the app's own folder.
Safety checks. To point you to crisis help when you talk about suicide or self-harm, Eagerness checks what you say or type for signs of it. This happens on your Mac; nothing about it is sent to us, and we don't learn when it happens (see our Safety page).
The Eagerness app runs in Apple's App Sandbox without permission to connect to the internet. Apart from its download helper (section 2), it reaches the internet only by opening one of our pages in your web browser, such as the store when you choose Buy (section 3) or our download page for an update. None of these sends your voice, conversations, memory or settings. Eagerness contains no analytics, advertising, tracking or crash-reporting code.
Because we never receive this information, we can't see it or share it with anyone, and we can't recover it if it's lost.
Erasing it. Choose Forget everything in Settings to erase your conversations and what Eagerness remembers, or turn off Remember our conversations to erase them and stop Eagerness from saving new ones. Deleting the app's data from your Mac erases them too. Settings such as "About you" stay until you change them, and a few small items, such as the free-trial counter, stay in your Mac's Keychain even if you delete the app. Erasing doesn't reach backups you've made of your Mac, such as Time Machine.
2. Downloads and update checks
A small, separate download helper inside Eagerness is the only part of it that can go online, and online it connects only to our download server, which runs on Cloudflare. It downloads the AI model files when you set Eagerness up or switch models, and each time you open Eagerness it fetches a small signed file that says what the newest version is. It never has access to your conversations.
Like any web server, ours receives standard details with each request: your IP address, the time, the files requested and basic software details, such as your macOS version (the "user agent"). The helper doesn't send your device code, name, email address or anything you've said. Cloudflare processes these details for us and may keep them for a short period in its request logs. We use them to deliver the files, keep the service running and secure, prevent abuse and count, in aggregate, the downloads and update checks we serve.
3. When you buy
You buy Eagerness from inside the app. When you choose Buy, Eagerness opens our store in your web browser with your Mac's device code in the web address. Our store creates a checkout with Stripe, our payment processor, sends you to Stripe's checkout page and saves the device code with that checkout in our Stripe account. You need to give an email address and payment details to buy, because your license is issued to your email address; you can try Eagerness without either.
The device code is a short code Eagerness makes from your Mac's hardware identifier with a one-way cryptographic function, so it can't be turned back into that identifier. (If macOS doesn't provide one, Eagerness uses your Mac's name instead.) It's the same every time for the same Mac, so it does identify that Mac, and we link it to your purchase so your license works there. Eagerness doesn't send it to us on its own: it reaches us only through the Buy link and in anything you send us yourself, such as a support email. You can see it in the app's Settings.
Stripe collects your payment details directly, along with your email address, your name and the billing details you enter (for example, your country and postal code). We never see your full card number. Stripe processes payments for us and also uses some of this information for its own purposes, such as fraud prevention and its legal obligations, under its own privacy policy.
What we receive. Our Stripe account holds:
- your email address, name and the billing details you entered;
- what you bought, the amount, any promotion code used, the date and whether payment went through;
- your device code and the checkout's reference number; and
- limited payment information Stripe makes available to sellers, such as the card type, last four digits and expiration date, and the results of Stripe's fraud checks (which can include the IP address and approximate location used at checkout).
We don't keep a separate customer database: your purchase record lives in our Stripe account.
Your license key appears, with your email address, on our store's thank-you page after you pay, and we email it once to the address you bought with. It contains your email address, the purchase date, the checkout's reference number and your device code, and it's cryptographically signed, so any change makes it invalid. It isn't encrypted: anyone you give it to can read those details. Keep the key, and the thank-you page's web address, private.
4. Our website
Our website and store run on Cloudflare. Our pages set no cookies and contain no analytics, advertising or third-party tracking tools or scripts. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie, for example to tell people from bots.
When you visit, Cloudflare processes standard request details to deliver and protect the site, such as your IP address, your browser's user agent, the web address requested (including any code in it, like the device code in the Buy link or the checkout reference on the thank-you page) and the time. These request logs are kept for a short period under Cloudflare's standard retention. We use them to run and secure the site and, in aggregate, to count visits, downloads and purchases. Cloudflare describes its own practices in its privacy policy.
Stripe's checkout page is run by Stripe, not us, and uses cookies for payments and fraud prevention under Stripe's privacy policy.
5. When you email us
If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you include, such as your device code when you want your license moved to a new Mac. We use it to reply and help you, and keep it as long as we need it for that and for our records, such as a record of a refund. Our email provider stores these messages for us. Please don't send us your conversations or other sensitive information; we don't need them to help you.
6. How we use personal data
We use the personal data we receive to:
- sell, deliver and activate your license;
- support you, for example by moving your license to a new Mac, giving refunds, answering questions and telling you about important issues with your purchase;
- deliver the app's downloads and update information;
- run and secure our website, store and download server, and prevent fraud and abuse, such as payment fraud or license misuse;
- count, in aggregate, how many people visit, download and buy;
- meet tax, accounting and other legal obligations, and establish, exercise or defend legal claims; and
- complete a business transfer described in section 7.
We don't use personal data for advertising or to build profiles about you, and we don't use it to train AI models. We don't make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects. Stripe screens payments for fraud with automated tools, as its privacy policy explains; if your payment is declined, contact us.
7. Who we share it with
We don't sell or rent personal data or share it for cross-context behavioral (targeted) advertising. Because we never receive your conversations, we have none to share. We share personal data only:
- With our service providers: Stripe (payments), Cloudflare (website, store, downloads, request logs and sending and forwarding our email) and our email provider, so they can provide their services to us. Stripe and Cloudflare also use some of it for their own purposes, such as fraud prevention and security, under their own privacy policies.
- With our professional advisers, such as accountants and lawyers, under a duty of confidentiality, when needed for tax, accounting or legal purposes.
- For legal reasons: when the law requires it, for example to answer a subpoena, court order or other lawful request from a public authority, or when we believe in good faith it's needed to protect the rights, property or safety of our customers, others or us, including to prevent fraud and enforce our Terms.
- In a business transfer: if we're involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy or sale of assets, personal data may be transferred, or reviewed under confidentiality, as part of it. Any successor will have to honor this policy for the personal data it receives from us.
- With your permission, or when you ask us to.
We may also share aggregate numbers that don't identify anyone, such as how many copies we've sold.
8. How long we keep it
- Purchase records: generally up to seven years after the purchase, for tax and accounting, or longer if a law requires it or we need them for a legal claim.
- Emails: as long as we need them to help you and for our records.
- Request logs from our website and download server: a short period under Cloudflare's standard retention, unless we need them longer to look into a specific security problem or abuse.
- Aggregate counts that don't identify anyone: as long as they're useful.
- Information on your Mac: until you erase it (section 1). We never hold it.
When we no longer need personal data, we delete or anonymize it. Stripe may keep its own records of payments it processed, as its privacy policy explains.
9. Security
We collect as little personal data as we can and use reasonable safeguards to protect what we hold. Conversations and memory are encrypted on your Mac, and the app runs in Apple's App Sandbox without internet access. Licenses and update information are cryptographically signed. Our website, store and download server use HTTPS. Payments are handled by Stripe, which is certified to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).
No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee the security of information stored anywhere or sent over the internet. Anyone who can use your Mac account may be able to open Eagerness and see what it remembers, so protect your Mac with a password and keep your license key private.
10. Your choices and rights
On your Mac, you're in control: you can turn off the microphone or memory, or erase what Eagerness remembers, anytime (section 1). We can't access that information, so we can't export, correct or delete it for you.
For the personal data we hold, wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you whether we hold personal data about you and what it is, give you a copy (in a portable format where feasible), correct it or delete it. The law limits some requests: for example, we must keep purchase records for tax purposes, and once your purchase record is deleted we can no longer move or reissue your license. If we can't fully meet a request, we'll tell you why.
How to ask. Email support@eagerness.ai, ideally with "Privacy request" in the subject line and, for a purchase, from the address you bought with. We'll verify your identity first, usually by replying to that address and, if needed, asking for details only the buyer would know, such as the purchase date or the device code in the app's Settings. We use those details only to verify you. Requests are free, unless the law lets us charge a reasonable fee or decline a request that's clearly unfounded or excessive.
Timing. We respond within the time the law that applies to you requires: generally one month under EU and UK law and 45 days under US state laws. Both can be extended in some cases; if we need more time, we'll tell you why.
Authorized agents. Where the law allows, an authorized agent can make a request for you. We may ask for proof that you gave the agent signed permission and ask you to verify your identity with us directly.
Appeals. If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision with "Appeal" in the subject line. We'll answer in writing within the time your law requires, generally 45 to 60 days. If we deny your appeal, you can contact your state's attorney general.
No discrimination. We won't treat you differently, such as by charging a different price or giving a lesser service, for exercising your privacy rights.
11. If you're in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland
Controller. Worth A Try LLC (see Contact) is the controller of the personal data we receive, described in sections 2 to 5.
Legal bases. We rely on:
- Contract, to sell, deliver and support your license, including moving it to a new Mac and giving refunds.
- Legal obligation, to keep tax and accounting records and respond to lawful requests from authorities. Where the obligation comes from a law outside the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, we rely instead on our legitimate interest in complying with it.
- Legitimate interests, to run and secure our website, store and download server; prevent fraud, abuse and license misuse; count visits, downloads and purchases in aggregate; answer emails from people who haven't bought; handle legal claims; and complete a business transfer. We rely on these only where your rights and interests don't override them, and you can ask us how we balanced them.
Your additional rights. Besides the rights in section 10, you can ask us to restrict how we use your personal data and object to uses based on legitimate interests. You can also complain to a data protection authority: in the EEA, the one where you live, work or believe a problem occurred; in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO); in Switzerland, the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).
International transfers. We're based in the United States, and personal data we receive is processed in the US and other countries where Stripe, Cloudflare and our email provider operate, whose data protection laws may differ from yours. Where your law requires safeguards for these transfers, our providers rely on recognized mechanisms, such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, its UK Extension and the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (where they're certified), or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses with the UK Addendum. Contact us to learn more.
12. US state privacy rights
California. This section gives the information California's privacy law (the CCPA, as amended by the CPRA) calls for. We provide it for transparency; it isn't a statement that the law applies to us. We collect, and in the past 12 months have collected, these categories of personal information:
- Identifiers: name, email address, IP address, device code, checkout reference number and license key.
- Customer records: name, billing details and limited payment card details (section 3).
- Commercial information: what you bought, the amount, the date and whether payment went through.
- Internet or network activity: request logs from our website and download server, such as the pages and files requested, the time and the user agent.
- Approximate location: such as the country or postal code in your billing details, or the general area your IP address points to. We don't collect precise location.
- Anything else you choose to include in emails to us.
Sources: you, your browser and the Eagerness download helper (when they connect to our servers), the Buy link (the device code) and Stripe. Purposes: section 6. Recipients: we disclose these categories for business purposes to the service providers and others in section 7 (payments, hosting and downloads, email, professional advisers and, when required, authorities). Retention: section 8.
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we haven't done so in the past 12 months. That includes the personal information of anyone under 16. We don't ask for sensitive personal information, and we never use it to infer characteristics about anyone. You have the rights to know, access, correct and delete personal information and to non-discrimination, and you can use an authorized agent (section 10). We don't share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing.
Other states. Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon and other states with consumer privacy laws may have similar rights, including to appeal our decision on a request and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale of personal data and certain profiling, none of which we do. These laws apply only to businesses that meet certain thresholds and may not apply to us; either way, you can make the requests in section 10, including an appeal.
13. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We don't track you across other websites or apps, we don't let third parties do so on our website, and we don't sell or share personal information for advertising. So there's nothing for a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal to switch off, and our website works the same either way. We treat a Global Privacy Control signal as a request to opt out of sale and sharing, which we don't do anyway.
14. Children
Eagerness is for adults. It isn't directed to anyone under 18, it asks you to confirm you're 18 or older when you set it up, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has bought a license or sent us personal data, contact us. We'll delete their personal data, except anything the law requires us to keep, and refund the purchase.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We'll post the new version here with a new "Last updated" date and, if a change is material, also give notice in a prominent way, such as on our website or in Eagerness. If we want to use personal data we already hold in a materially different way from what this policy describes, we'll ask for your consent first where the law requires it.
